Zitat:
It was a common problem in the 96-97 displays. It shows up mostly under high humidity conditions, not just rainy days, and like Ghost Rider 2 says, a short ride is usually all that is needed to get it back on again. For some reason, for those 2 years, the circuit boards were not properly cleaned after manufacturing and what happens is during high humidity, the boards will temporarily short out causing no display. The "fix" is rather involved and calls for pulling the display from the dash and taking out all the screws to get to the circuit board. Then you have to spray down the circuit board with an electronic cleaner and helps to lightly scrub it with an old toothbrush. Then you will have to use a silicone sealer after it is clean to keep the moisture from reaching the circuit board. 2 other options are to find a good LCD from another year or just live with it. It doesn't seem to cause any lasting damage, just the annoying blank display and having to reset the clock once it drys out. Also when it comes back on, several of the "idiot" lights will pop on for a second and then go back out. I can't remember if the idiot lights don't function with the blank display, only that they light up momentarily and then go back out again.
